Description
Very nice Echizen katana attributed to Sadatsugu. Hyuga Daijo Sadatsugu was a well known smith from the Echizen Seki line. He worked in the same style as the famous Shigetaka, and their blades were known for their cutting ability. The blade is in full polish, with a very active hamon of gunome choji midare. In some places there is slanted ashi, yo and some sunagashi as well. The hamon is made up of nie deki, and there is nie in the ji as well. The hada is a fine itame with chikei, and there is tobiyaki in places. All in all a very nice blade to own that has much to look at and enjoy. Obviousley the NBTHK thought enough of the work to attribute the blade to an exact maker, not just a school. NBTHK paper to Hyuga Daijo Sadatsugu. In shirasaya, and a nice gold habaki. Accompanied by a very good high grade WW2 Army Gunto mounts with a family crest and tsunagi.
